ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team hosted on Wednesday Greenville, the current team in first place in the SLIAC standings. The Griffins came out victorious with a reverse sweep where multiple records were set. Then, the Griffins did not travel far this Saturday as they went to Webster to play a tri-match against them and Westminster, and unfortunately Fontbonne dropped both matches.
The Griffins move to 14-8 overall and 10-5 in conference play.
On Wednesday, Emma Harrop surpassed 1,000 career digs, while Payton Siebert set a new career-high in kills (11) and Riley Watson set a new career-high in assists (44).
On Thursday, Jordan Harpel recorded a new career-high in kills (19) while Riley Watson recorded a new career-high in assists once again with 48.
The set scores against Greenville were: 18-25, 22-25, 25-9, 25-18, 15-7 (3-2).
Maura Oge led the floor with 21 points. Kristen Kaempfe recorded a double-double, with 13 kills and 17 digs. Jordan Harpel scored 15.5 points, while Siebert scored a total of 11 points.
Watson added 44 assists, while Harrop totaled 19 digs. Oge, Harrop and Harpel each recorded five service aces.
The set scores against Webster were: 25-20, 17-25, 25-23, 25-19 (3-1).
Kaempfe led the team with 14 kills and 19 digs, having once again a double-double. Oge scored a total of 13 points.
Watson added 33 assists, while Harrop had 14 digs.
The set scores against Westminster were: 13-25, 28-26, 25-22, 22-25, 15-9 (3-2)
Kaempfe led the floor with an impressive 26 points and 14 digs for her third double-double of the week in three matches played. Harpel's new career-high 19 kills in 22 points scored.
Watson recorded 48 assists, and Harrop recorded 29 digs. Oge added 12 points, while Maddie Bock totaled 10 digs.
