Women's Soccer Wins 13th Straight On Rainy Night Against Principia

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's soccer team won its 13^th straight game on Tuesday after knocking off Principia, 5-1. The Griffins shutout streak ended at just over 1,141 minutes of action which is a SLIAC record.

The scoring got started for the Griffins in 18^th minute when Katie Leeker got the ball in the box and found Krystal Kohenskey who beat Renea Garza for the 1-0 lead.

Prior to the half ending in the 38^th minute, the Griffins were awarded a penalty-kick and Leeker came through with the goal putting Fontbonne ahead 2-0 at the break.

In the second half, the Griffins extended its lead out to 3-0 when Kohenskey dribbled it up the right side and crossed it over for Alyson Carroll who buried the one-timer shot past Garza.

In the 57^th minute, the Griffins were awarded a second penalty-kick with Bianca Cortez-Perez this time taking it and scoring making it a 4-0 game.

Principia ended the Griffins shutout streak in the 67^th minute on a penalty-kick goal, but Fontbonne answered right back two minutes later with Beth Kasten scoring off an assist from Kohenskey to make it a 5-1 final.

Team Notes

• The Griffins finished with an 18-3 shot advantage.
• Kohenskey's goal was her 14^th on the season. Her two assists tie her career-high of 14.
• Leeker's goal was her fourth on the year and it was her first assist on the season.
• Carrol's was her seventh on the year.
• Cortez-Perez netted her fifth on the season.
• Kasten's goal was her second.
• Mary Beers collected career win No. 47.
