Five First Half Goals Lift Fontbonne Past Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Fontbonne University women's soccer team scored early-and-often totaling five first half goals in a rout over Spalding.

The Griffins wasted no time getting on the board when Bianca Cortez-Perez used her speed to get behind the Golden Eagles defense and she beat Olivia Bosch to her left for the 1-0 lead.

They kept its foot on the pedal when off a corner from Krystal Kohenskey, Libby Bateman was there to head in her first of the season in the seventh minute.

Nine minutes later, the Griffins struck again when Alyson Carroll received a through ball pass from Caitlyn Smith and she scored from the top of the box.

Just two minutes went by and Fontbonne made it a 4-0 game when Kohenskey scored a one-timer off a pass from Carroll to the far post.

 In the 27^th minute, Caroline Neal got in on the scoring action scoring from 25 yards out over the outstretched hand of Bosch. Fontbonne dominated the second half with an 11-2 shot advantage and collected the shutout win.

Notes

• Cortez-Perez, Bateman, and Caroll all scored its first on season.
• Kohenskey goal was her third and assist was her second for a team-high eight points on the season.
• Kohenskey is tied for second all-time with 29 assists.
• Neal moved into in a tie for sixth all-time with 35 career goals.
• Mary Beers shutout was 25^th in career.
