Four Women's Volleyball players receive SLIAC postseason honors
St. Louis, Mo. - After today's long day of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball Tournament, the conference announced this year's all-conference, all-tournament and all-sportsmanship award receipients.
The following Griffins received postseason honors:
Kersten McDonough- OH, 1st team Mariana Rogers- L, 3rd team Lynsey Wehrenberg- S, 3rd team Megan Schaller- All Sportsmanship TeamMcDonough- The senior is a three-year Griffin and three-year first team All-SLIAC recipient. McDonough recorded the highest number of kills (273) ,kills per set (3.74) and points (305) this year against conference competition. She also leads the league in overall kills (432) and kills per set (3.76) on the year. She is the all-time career attack (3,982) and kills (1,388) leader at Fontbonne, surpassing both marks this season. She also recorded a career-high 332 digs and was a two-time SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week this year.
Rogers- The Munster, Ind. native led the Griffins with 506 digs, or 4.40 digs per set. She recorded 322 digs against SLIAC opponents, third among her competitors. She recorded a season-high 20 digs in her second meeting against Webster this year and notched 18 digs three times this season. This is her first all-conference recognition.
Wehrenberg- The senior setter is just the second Griffin to earn over 2,000 assists and 1,000 digs in the history of the program. This year she recorded a career-high in three categories: 678 assists, 349 digs and 35 service aces. She was fifth in the conference with 438 assists against SLIAC opponents and is fourth all-time at Fontbonne in career assists (2,109). She broke the record assisting McDonough's career-breaking kill. Last season Wehrenberg was named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team.
Schaller- A freshman, Schaller was called upon as s defensive specialist early in the season and then rotated sets/games as an occasional setter. In her first season she recorded 181 assists, second most for the Griffins this year.
