Women's Volleyball looks forward to home-opener

Elmhurst, Ill. - After losing their first two matches of the Elmhurst Invitational, Fontbonne women's volleyball took the first set 25-17 over the University of Massachusetts-Boston. The Griffins ultimately fell 19-25, 10-25 and 17-25 in the remaining sets. Junior right-side hitter Bailey Benes totalled 10 kills on the match, for a team-high .350 kill percentage.

Fontbonne took on Lawrence College in their final competition over the holiday weekend. After falling in the first two sets, the Griffins rallied back for a 25-14 third-set win and almost sent the match to five sets, ultimately losing the fourth set 26-28.

Kersten McDonough tallied 20 kills in the match, her second 20+ kills of the weekend. Junior Holly Richter totaled eight kills on 12 attempts for a team-high .583 kill percentage. Three Griffins posted double-digit digs in the loss including Mariana Rogers (15), Kristina Eason (12) and Lynsey Wehrenberg (10).

Fontbonne conduct their home-opener this Tuesday, Sept. 8th when they host St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 7pm.
