SLIAC Volleyball Preseason Poll Released
St. Louis- The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has released the 2013 Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Poll.
The Fontbonne University Griffins have been tabbed to finish 7th in conference play. Last season the Griffins finished regular season conference play in 6th place above Eureka, MacMurray and Blackburn.
Fontbonne returns six players from last year's squad with four starters. Seniors Taryn Ballmann and Abbie Bergtholdt, both of whom received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors last season, return along with sophomore Mandy DeWitt. DeWitt finished the season with a 5th place ranking in assists. Newcomers Emily Weaver and Maddie Stadler look like key contributers on offensively for the Griffins while junior libero Claire Domian looks to be the defensive gem for Fontbonne.
Webster and Greenville take the #1 and #2 spots respectively in the preseason poll for the second year. This season Iowa Wesleyan joins the SLIAC, and has been tabbed to finished 8th according to the coaches' preseason poll.
