Griffins release 2017 women's soccer schedule
St. Louis, Mo. - The Fontbonne University women's soccer program has announced its 2017 schedule which features three games against teams that appeared in the NCAA Div. III National Tournament including the defending National Champions.
The Griffins will open the season in Chicago, Ill. on Sept. 1st playing Elmhurst College, who competes in the always-strong CCIW. Fontbonne will also play Dominican University out of the NACC that weekend on Sunday.
The team's first home game is on Sept. 9th against another CCIW team Millikin University at 11 am. On the following day, the Griffins host Pomona Pitzer which advanced to the Elite 8 in last year's NCAA Div. III National Tournament.
Fontbonne will continue its tough non-conference schedule with home games against Illinois College and Rhodes College. On Wednesday, Sept. 20th, the Griffins travel across the street to play defending NCAA Div. III National Champion Washington University at 7 pm. Fontbonne will round out its non-conference schedule with games against Mt. St. Joseph University, Oakland City University and Harris-Stowe College.
The Griffins open St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) play at home on Sept. 30th against Eureka College. Fontbonne turns around and plays defending SLIAC champion Webster University the following Tuesday on Oct. 3rd, also at home. Webster handed the Griffins their only two conference defeats last year. Fontbonne concludes its regular season on Oct. 28th at Principia College at 3 pm.
Fontbonne is coming off a 12-7-2 finish last season that saw them go 8-1 in the SLIAC. The Griffins' season ended in the SLIAC Championship game.
