St. Louis, Mo. - Kayla Thorpe's goal near the 19 minute mark wasn't enough for the outright win today as women's soccer tied Franklin College 1-1. Fontbonne's record is now 5-1-1.
Franklin's Danielle Owen's tied the game in the 51st minute and the teams would remain tied throughout the double overtime periods. The tie was the first on the season for both teams.
The Griffins had a rough game to open the weekend with Franklin committing 15 fouls. For the first time this season, the Griffins had fewer corner kick opportunities than their opponent. Franklin held a 7-3 advantage over Fontbonne. Shots were nearly even as the Grizzlies got off 12 shots and the Griffins ten.
