Women's Soccer remains undefeated
St. Louis, Mo. - The 2014 Fontbonne University women's soccer team is awarded our first team spotlight of the year. The Griffins have started the season with a 4-0 mark, the only undefeated team in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Griffins started the season with a 2-1 double overtime win against Mount St. Joseph Univeristy, followed immediately by a 5-0 stomping of Berea. This past weekend the Griffins scored only two goals, but that's all that was needed as they defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 1-0 and Wisconsin-Platteville 1-0.
Sophomore Kelly Hobbs has two game-winning goals, sophomore Natalie Sipole scored her first goal of the season, also a game-winner, sophomore Ashlynn Reiter recorded a hat trick against Berea and junior goalkeeper Tayler Pulvirenti has recorded three shutouts in a row with a total of 10 saves. Senior Kayla Thorpe scored the first goal of the year and also has two assists. Kaitlin Becherer scored one goal, Paige Pfankuch has one assist, Sipole adds an assist to her statistics and Hobbs has a total of three goals this season.
The Griffins hope to keep their undefeated record in-tact as they travel to Illinois College on Wednesday for a 5pm game against the Lady Blues who are 3-0.
