Men’s Wrestling Picked to Finish Third in SLIAC Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University men's wrestling team was selected to finish third in the SLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced the conference office this morning.

This year marks the first time the conference will sponsor a wrestling championship, which will be held in February.

The Griffins are one of the league's more experienced programs having begun in 2018.

They are coached by Head Coach Chad Cook and led by junior Joe Beck.

Beck recorded two wins at last year's regionals and competes at 157. The Griffins bring back a total of 9 returners including senior Micah Dennis (165).

New faces to watch this year are high school state qualifiers Gavin Patterson (125) and Eric Harmon (133) as well as three-time Missouri State Champion Jay Strausbaugh (149). 

Their schedule features 11 away events and two at home in January. They open their season in three days, on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Maryville Open.
