St. Louis- Despite Blackburn's Erin Bell producing the game-high points (19) and rebounds (12), the Griffins came out with a decisive win last night. Fontbonne outscored Blackburn 81-62 to improve to 3-1 on the season, winning their first and only St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game of the season.
Two other Beavers scored double-digit points, but Danique Smith's 10 turnovers didn't help Blackburn.
Fontbonne's Chelsey Freymuth scored her team-high 12 points, connecting on 50% of her field goal attempts and shooting 4 for 7 from the free throw line. Freshman Emily Haring shot 3 of 5 three-point attempts and was 2-2 from the line totaling 11 points. Sophomore Erika Kuhn's totaled 10 points and freshman Holly Beckett pulled in 10 rebounds to round out the Griffins' double-digit players.
Fontbonne returns to the court this Saturday, traveling down Big Bend to Webster. The women's game begins at 1pm.
