Women's Basketball Picked 5th in SLIAC Pre-Season Poll
St. Louis- The Fontbonne University women's basketball team has been projected to finish in fifth place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) according to the coaches pre-season poll. Westminster College was selected to win the conference according to the poll.
The Griffins finished 9-16 last season with a 8-8 SLIAC record. Fontbonne returns senior forward Chelsey Freymuth, coming off an ACL tear last season along with the team's top returning scorer at 6.0 points per game, sophomore guard Nicole Joerger. The only other returner include junior forward Kristen Dempsey and sophomore guard Erika Kuhn. Bringing in 11 new student-athletes, Coach Matt Wickenhauser will be looking for fresh talent to make early contributions this season.
Fontbonne opens regular season play at home this Saturday, November 16th against the Illinois College Lady Blues. Tipoff is at 1pm.
