Fontbonne University's Hailey Kutz has been named a 2024 Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators. Kutz was one of 33 players to receive recognition in NCAA Division III, earning Third Team honors.
Kutz, a junior pitcher, holds a 4.00 grade-point average while majoring in Medical Lab Sciences and was one of just 12 members on the Division III All-America team to carry a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. Kutz is the first SLIAC player since 2015 to earn the honor and just the fifth in conference history. She is the third Griffin to be named Academic All-American in program history, joining Cassie Glixman and Shannon Fitzpatrick in the 2015 season.
Kutz led the Griffins to a 22-20 overall record this past year, winning the SLIAC regular season title, and was named the SLIAC Pitcher of the Year. Kutz was 12-7 in the circle with a 1.73 earned-run average and 139 strikeouts in 121.1 innings pitched. She held opponents to a .203 batting average and recorded two shutouts.
