Softball Advances to SLIAC Tournament Semifinals
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The number one seeded Fontbonne University softball team defeated the host school Spalding University, 4-2.
The Griffins improve to 20-18 on the season.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third, when Fontbonne scored with a single up in the middle from Allysa Ibarra scoring Kassidy Chrisco.
Spalding answered with two runs scored on the top of the fourth.
On the top of the fifth, Brena Foley reached on a fielder's choice to score Ellie Bartlett on a throwing error and Macy Brown. Then, a single from Grace Paez earned an unearned run from Foley.
Sam Foppe started in the circle for the Griffins. She pitched 4.0 innings and struck out three while allowing five hits and two runs.
Hailey Kutz came in as a relief to take the win and improve to 9-6 on the season. She pitched three hitless innings, striking out three.
