Griffins riding four-game winning streak in the Sunshine state
After dropping their first two games in Florida, the Fontbonne University women's softball team has rebounded to win four straight to improve their record to 9-4 overall.
The Griffins opened their nine-game Florida trip by losing to Anderson College (4-1) and Amherst College (5-2) but regrouped to beat Bethel (4-1), Hope College (4-1), Ramapo University (9-1) and Plattsburg State University (4-0).
During the Griffins current four-game winning streak, Fontbonne pitchers have allowed 3 runs in four games. Sophomore Madison Leonard picked up wins against Ramapo and Hope. In those two games, Leonard went 11 innings allowing just one run on four hits. Senior Kourtney Von Behren didn't allow a run in five innings in her win against Plattsburgh State. Sophomore Lindsay Schaefer allowed just one run in a complete victory over Bethel.
Twin sisters Danni and Cassi Glixman along with senior Sarah Cerutti have powered the Griffins offensively. In the four game winning streak, Cerutti has six RBI's, a triple and a home run. Cassi Glixman has at least one RBI in three of the four games while her sister has driven in two runs.
Fontbonne will return to the diamond today as they play games against Frostburg State, North Central College and Manchester College.
