Men's Volleyball Receiving Votes In 2020 AVCA Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—For the first time in program history, the Fontbonne University men's volleyball team has collected receiving votes in the ACVA Top 15 Preseason Poll.

The Griffins ended the 2019 campaign 26-3 overall and 7-2 in the MCVL. The team won the MCVL Tournament for the first time in program history and advanced all the way to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

For its efforts, the Griffins ended the season ranked 12^th overall nationally which is its highest placing in program history.

This year, the Griffins, who are already picked to finish first in the MCVL Preseason Poll, collected 24 votes and will open the 2020 slate tested right out of the gate. After its alumni game on January 14^th, the Griffins head on out to California for four games with all teams either receiving votes or ranked in the top-15.

On January 16^th, they'll square off against (RV) California Lutheran who sits just outside the top-15 poll. On the 17^th, they'll face No. 13-ranked New York University, while on Saturday the 18^th, the team faces (RV) Vassar, and No. 8-ranked UC Santa Cruz, who knocked the Griffins out of the NCAA Tournament from a season ago.

After an exhibition against NAIA Missouri Baptist on the 22^nd, the team continues its road stretch on the 25^th for matches against Aurora and Augustana. The tough schedule continues on the 26^th when they'll take on No. 6-ranked Benedictine (Ill.).

From there, the team closes out the month of January on the road at Greenville for matches against Concordia Chicago and Rockford on the 31^st.

In February, the team will only play four matches, though all will be on the road against Dominican (Feb. 7^th), Greenville (Feb. 11^th), Trine (Feb. 21^st), and Adrian (Feb. 22^nd).

In March, the Griffins home opener is slate for the sixth against newcomer to the MCVL, Mount Union. The team will stay at home for its next five matches against Olivet (Mar. 8^th), Mount St. Joseph (Mar. 13^th), Marian (Mar. 14^th), Adrian (Mar. 20^th), and Trine (Mar. 21^st).

Fontbonne will finish out its regular season on the road against Mount St. Joseph (Mar. 27^th), Olivet (Apr. 3^rd), Mount Union (Apr. 4^th), and No. 8-ranked UC Santa Cruz (Apr. 4^th) once more.
