ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men’s volleyball team returns to the court this weekend for a couple of matches against Marian (Wis.) on Friday and Maranatha Baptist on Saturday.

A Look At The Griffins

  • The Griffins are coming off straight set wins over Bluefield and Cumberland at the Off The Block Challenge.
  • Overall, the team posted 82 kills, a .352 hitting percentage, 58 digs, and 11 blocks.
  • Individually, Josh Farley led with a team-high 24 kills and a .415 hitting percentage. He was named Most Valuable Player in the NCAA Division III / NAIA Bracket and named to the All-Tournament Team.
  • Brendon Schwartze and Emir Hadzisalihovic were also named to the All-Tournament Team.
  • Schwartze finished with 19 kills, while Hadzisalihovic had 10 and a .429 hitting percentage.
  • Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell led with a team-high 68 assists and Zach Rothstein contributed 18 digs.

 

A Look At The Marian Sabres

  • The Sabres are still in search of its first win on the 2019 season and have won just one set thus far.
  • However, the team has played some tough competition in No. 5 SUNY New Paltz, No. 9 UC Santa Cruz, No. 8 Cal Lutheran, North Central, and No. 3 Carthage.
  • In the five matches, they've totaled 164 kills and a .078 hitting percentage.
  • Jon Smallpage leads them on the offensive side of the net with 60 kills and a .090 hitting percentage.
  • Joey Dittman dished out 128 assists thus far and libero Cullen Liberski added a team-high 66 digs.

 

A Look At The Maranatha Baptist Sabercats

  • The Sabercats also are in search of its first victory after falling in four sets against No. 8 Brewton-Parker.
  • On the season, they've been limited to 65 kills and .041 hitting percentage.
  • Derek Wallis totaled a team-high 27 kills and a .152 hitting percentage.
  • Taylor Dafoe has contributed 43 of the 60 assists.
  • Defensively, Steve Wagner and Rory Massey are tied with 19 digs each.
