Rech Scores Twice Against The Falcons On Saturday

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men’s lacrosse team began its four game home stretch with a tough 21-4 loss against Concordia-Wisconsin on Saturday.

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's lacrosse team began its four game home stretch with a tough 21-4 loss against Concordia-Wisconsin on Saturday.

The Griffins (1-8; 0-3 MLC), totaled 12 shots and were led by Matt Rech's two-goal performance which now gives him nine on the season. Alex Scott and Dalton Teague contributed the other goals. In net, Nick Fresta came away with 11 saves.

As a team, CUW finished with 59 shots, 42 ground balls and scored three goals on the man-advantage. They also dominated at the faceoff winning 25-of-28.

The Falcons (6-4; 2-0 MLC), got three goals out of Keijo Day and Collin Berman. Stephen Gregory, Warren Kaminsky, Chris Smith, Warren Marquez and Jacob Dubyak netted two goals each. In net, starter Garrett Wholford got the win after making three saves.

In the first, the Falcons got on the board on Marquez's unassisted goal at the 12:23 mark. From there, they scored six more unanswered goals and headed into the second on top, 7-0. They tallied five more in the second to take a 12-0 lead into the locker room.

In the third, after Stephen Gregory made it 13-0, the Griffins netted its first of the game on Rech's unassisted goal at 7:05. From there, the Griffins scored three more goals in the fourth but CUW went on for the 17-goal win.

The team returns to action next Saturday against Beloit. Game-time begins at 2 p.m.
