The Fontbonne University's men's lacrosse team overcame a slow start last night eventually defeating Millsaps College 10-6. The Griffins improved to 4-2 overall and are still undefeated at home.
Millsaps scored the game's first two goals and had a 2-1 lead heading into the second quarter. Fontbonne however outscored Millsaps 8-2 in the second and third quarter combined to take full control of the game. During that eight-goal outburst, junior Thomas Carroll scored three goals.
For the game, Carroll had a team-high four goals while senior Colin Benecke had a goal and two assists. Senior goalie Chad Meuer recorded 11 saves to pick up the win for the Griffins.
Fontbonne will return to action Saturday when they host Concordia-Wisconsin University at 1 pm. Saturday's game will be the Midwest Lacrosse Conference opener for the Griffins.
