Griffins pounce on Hanover
April 26, 2012 - The Fontbonne University men's lacrosse team broke its three-game losing streak last night beating Hanover College 18-3. The Griffins improved to 7-8 oveall and 3-5 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference.
After a slow start, Fontbonne exploded for five goals in the second quarter to take a 7-0 lead into halftime. The Griffins extended their lead to 11-0 in the third quarter before Hanover was able to get on the scoreboard.
The Griffins were led by seniors Michael Ciaravino and Camerin Staffel. Ciaravino had a team-high six points on five goals and an assist while Staffel recorded a goal and four assists. Junior Colin Benecke tallied two goals and three assists for five points. Adam Walker, Caleb Harley and Samuel Nickols had two points apiece while Marcus Seale and Chris Kelly each record a point.
Fontbonne sophomore Thomas Carroll recorded nine saves in goal for the Griffins to pick up the victory.
Fontbonne concludes its 2012 season this Sunday hosting Trine University at noon.
