ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Fontbonne University men's basketball team tipped off their first home game in an electrifying fashion, securing a hard-fought victory. Their hustle and grit led them to an 86-63 win over the Principia Panthers. The Griffins improve to 2-4 on the season.
Kendall Horton delivered an outstanding performance with a double-double, recording 20 points and 10 rebounds. Charles Nelson led the floor in points, earning 22, he also added seven rebounds and five assists. Kaden Augustine scored 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. Jordan Lewis scored 12 points, six assists and four rebounds. Casey Crowley scored 17 points, four rebounds and three assists. All five starters scored double-digits points.
At half time the Griffins led 48-34 over the Panthers. They also outshot the Panthers 56.3% to 41.7%. The team's defense played a crucial role in the win, forcing 16 turnovers and limiting the Panthers' top scorer to just 12 points.
With the first home win of the season in the books, the Griffins are looking ahead to their next matchup, facing the Blackburn Beavers on the road on December 4th. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM CST.
