DeGeare SLIAC Newcomer of the Year

St. Louis- Fontbonne Unviersity freshman forward Bryan DeGeare (Crystal City, Mo./Crystal City) was recently named as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year.

DeGeare is the fifth Griffin to be awarded the honor, the second in a row. Teammate Jared Greenlee received the award last season.

DeGeare averaged 10.4 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. DeGeare was on the SLIAC leaderboards in blocks totaling 21, good for fourth and finished second among newcomers in scoring and blocks. DeGeare also ranked third among fellow newcomers in rebounds.

Sophomore teammate point guard Richard Dorhauer was given SLIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Dorhauer shot 33% in conference play from the arc, and 84.7% from the free-throw line, averaging 11.8 points per game.

Sophomore Darius Rucker brought home the All-Sportsmanship award for the Griffins.

Fontbonne finished the year 9-16 overall and .500 in the SLIAC with a 9-9 record.
