ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University baseball team returns to the diamond this weekend on the road when they'll visit Blackburn for a doubleheader. First-pitch at 1:30 p.m.

Fontbonne (17-8; 4-5 SLIAC) at Blackburn (3-19; 1-7 SLIAC)

A Look At The Griffins

  • The Griffins earned a split with Principia in its last time out after taking game one 6-1, but fell in the nightcap, 11-7.
  • On the year, the team is batting .282 at the dish and belted 13 homers.
  • Jonathan Hoevelmann leads the offense with a .387 average, 41 hits, 27 runs scored, 14 RBI and 27 stolen bases. He continues to rank inside the top-five nationally in stolen bases.
  • Braeden Dobbs has brought home a team-high 24 RBI, to go along with his .357 average.
  • Jackson Penrod hit his first homer against the Panthers, while totaling 19 RBI, 20 runs scored, and hitting .324 on the season.
  • Gus Purschke (.296), is hovering around the .300 mark and ranks third on the team with 29 hits.
  • On the bump, the staff has a team ERA of 3.91 in 205.0 innings pitched.
  • Luke Summers is 6-2 with a 0.64 ERA in his 56.0 innings pitched, totaling 79 strikeouts and allowed just four earned runs. He ranks second in strikeouts and fourth nationally in ERA.
  • Alex Phillips earned his fifth win on the year against Principia, while Mike Jacobson has a 3.38 ERA out of the pen.

 

A Look At The Blackburn Beavers

  • The Beavers snapped its 10-game slide on Wednesday after a 13-6 victory over Iowa Wesleyan.
  • On the year, they're batting .249 and leading the way is Steven Diaz with a .375 clip.
  • Catcher Ryan Steen is hitting .273, while totaling four homers and a team-high 22 RBI.
  • On the bump, the staff has a team ERA of 6.60.
  • Sammy Gordon is 3-3 with a team-high 30 strikeouts and a 5.67 ERA.
