Winter and Spring Sports Statement

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Today, the Fontbonne University athletic department announced their commitment to move forward this next academic year with all winter and spring sports except men's volleyball, cheer, dance and stunt. 

Earlier in May, the athletic department announced their commitment to the fall sports with men's soccer, women's volleyball and men's and women's golf. 

Men's basketball advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year after they won the SLIAC Regular Season title for the third time in a row, while winning the SLIAC Tournament for the second year in a row. The softball team were the regular season champions, while coming up short in the playoffs. 

Fontbonne previously announced to the SLIAC that they will not field a women's soccer program nor a cross-country team for the fall.  

Today, it was announced to the MCVL that Fontbonne will not field a men's volleyball team next season. Cheer, dance and stunt compete independent from a conference, but will not move forward with a roster for 2024-2025 due to extremely low numbers. 

Fontbonne University announced this March that it will close its doors after the summer of 2025. The athletic department looks forward to a robust offering of all the announced sports for next academic year.
