2001 Inductees
Laura "Cleo" King Klotz (Women's Volleyball)
Laura was standout volleyball player at Fontbonne that earned accolades during all four of her years as a Griffin. During her freshman year, she earned Second-Team All-Conference honors. Her sophomore, junior and senior year she got First-Team All-Conference honors. Laura also got NAIA All-American honors during her sophomore year.
Laura received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in communication disorders. She coached volleyball at Gibault Catholic High School for five years.
Mark Kronk
(Men's Basketball)
Mark Kronk was an intergral part of the men's basketball program at Fontbonne during the early 90's. In 1993, Mark set St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) records for most points in a game and making the most field goals in a game, records that have since been broken. He led Fontbonne to SLIAC Championships in 1994 and 1995. He started every game of his four-year career except one.
Mark graduated in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Sadly, Mark died on Aug. 27th 1997 when he collapsed during a sand volleyball game. He died of a rare heart disease at the age of 25.
Doris Jane O'Connor Shea
Doris was described as "an indefatigable horsewoman" by the 1940 Fontbonne yearbook. In 1937, Doris and her partner won best in pairs riding. Doris rode in the St. Louis Spring Horse Show in 1939 and was named the best rider of the college ribbon winners in that show. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Fontbonne in 1940.
Mike Lee (Men's Soccer)
Mike was a freshman at Fontbonne in 1985 when the Griffins advanced to the National Little College Athletic Association (NLCAA) tournament. In that tournament's championship game, Lee scored the game winning goal with five minutes remaining. He was the team captain his sophomore and junior years and voted best offensive player in 1986 and 1988. He finished either first or second in scoring in each of his four years. He finished his four-year career with 126 points. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1988.
