Betty Jane
Haemerle Broz (Women's Golf)
Betty Jane, better known as B.J., played varsity golf as a
Griffin. She competed in National Tournaments in the summer while
she was a student at Fontbonne. She defeated the famed Patty Berg,
thus gaining national attention. Betty Jane studied Education and
is a 1947 graduate.
Rosalind
Calcaterra Koenen (Synchronized Swimming)
Rosalind traveled to Japan as a freshman swimmer and won in the
senior national synchronized swimming competition. She performed at
the Brussels World’s Fair in 1958, also winning meets
overseas in France, Spain and Holland. Her greatest achievement was
becoming an Olympic Champion Synchronized Swimmer as a sophomore.
Rosalind graduated with an Education degree in 1961.
Keith Quigley
(Men's Golf)
Keith graduated from Fontbonne as a Business major in 1994 and during his time as a Griffin he participated in varsity Golf and Basketball. During his four years of golf, Keith won numerous tournaments including the St. Louis Intercolllegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament in 1991 and 1993. He helped lead Fontbonne to SLIAC championships in 1991 and 1992. As a junior in golf, Keith qualified for the NCAA Division III National Golf Tournament in California. He was named to the 1993 PING NCAA Div. III Honorable Mention All-American Teamm as well as the Golf Coaches Association of America All-District Team.
Keith served as Fontbonne University's head women's basketball coach from 1996-2011 and is currently the Associate Director of Freshman Recruitment.
Jason Schicker (Men's Soccer)
Jason is a 1994 graduate who varsity lettered in Soccer and Golf all four years of study. Jason was a member of the men’s soccer team that was Nationally ranked all four seasons he competed as a Griffin, and he made all-conference selections each year as well. During Jason’s sophomore year he scored a double hat trick, scoring six goals in one game. He was the leading goal scorer for two years and ranks second all-time in goals scored at Fontbonne. In golf, Jason was the #2 golfer his senior year.
Lee McKinney
(Men's Basketball/Administration)
Lee McKinney came to Fontbonne in 1988 and was hired as the first athletic director of the University. Coach, as he's better known as, served as Fontbonne's athletic director from 1988 to 2010. Coach oversaw Fontbonne joining the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC)in 1991, which they still are a member of. The SLIAC recently honored him by naming its service award The Lee McKinney Distinguished Service Award. He guided the University from three varisty sports to nearly 20, and less than 100 student-athletes to more than 350.
In addition to being the athletic director, Coach also served as the head men's basketball coach. He has more than 325 games at Fontbonne and led his program to the NCAA Tournament four times. The basketball court in the gymnasium has been named after Coach McKinney. He served as the head men's basketball coach until 2011.
