Then, the Golden Eagles went on a 3-0 run to get some breathing room at 20-17 on Chase's service ace. Fontbonne got it back down to 21-20 after another SU attack error, however, Spalding collected the final four points and went on for the 25-20 win on Spivey's kill.

FBU earned the next three points and were a point away from forcing a fifth set as they were on top 24-22 on Tallo's kill. Spalding wasn't going quietly, however, as they met-up with the Griffins at 24-24 on a FBU attack error.

Both teams traded points to even it at 25-25, but kills from Morgan Berning and Theresa Kwarciany secured the 27-25 set and match win.
