Volleyball alum inducted into SLIAC Hall of Fame
May 17, 2012 0 Fontbonne University alum Nicole Moyer was inducted into the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Hall of Fame Tuesday Night during a ceremony held at Soccer Park in Fenton, Missouri. Moyer is a member of the 2012 SLIAC Hall of Fame class along with MacMurray College's Pedro Rodriguez.
Moyer was a four-year letter winner for the Griffins volleyball team. She earned All-Conference honors in each of her four years, including Second Team honors as a freshman and sophomore and First Team honors as a junior and senior. Moyer was also named SLIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2001 and SLIAC Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004. In addition to her individual honors, Moyer also helped lead Fontbonne to four consecutive SLIAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. During her four years the Griffins compiled an overall record of 73-34 and 54-2 in the SLIAC.
On the court, Moyer led her team in several statistical categories and still holds two Fontbonne records to this day. She finished her outstanding career with 1,370 kills, which ranks as No. 1 in Griffins history. Moyer tallied a season-high 421 kills as a junior and also had a school record .289 hitting percentage during her senior season.
Moyer was inducted into the Fontbonne University Hall of Fame in 2011.
There are 32 members currently in the SLIAC Hall of Fame, consisting of 25 former student-athletes and seven administrators. After a four-year hiatus from 2003-06, the Hall of Fame was reinstated in 2007. In order to be eligible for consideration a student-athlete must have graduated from his/her institution and played at least two years in a SLIAC championship sport.
Student-athletes are not eligible until at least five years after their last date of participation. To be eligible as a coach, administrator or meritorious service contributor, the individual must have served his or her institution or the conference for at least five years after 1991.
