Golich And Summers Named To The All-Central Region Second Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Earlier this morning, D3baseball.com announced the 2018 All-Region Teams. The Griffins saw Michael Golich and Luke Summers earn All-Central Region Second Team honors.

Golich, an Aurora, Illinois, native, is named to the All-Region Team for the second straight year. The senior infielder had a career-season for the Griffins with his team-high .412 clip, 61 hits, 39 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples and 16 RBI. Those type of numbers placed him on the SLIAC All-Conference First Team.

He closes out his two-year tenure with the team owning a .393 average, 121 hits, 82 runs scored, 16 doubles, 31 RBI and 38 stolen bases.

Summers, meanwhile, picks up the honor for the first time in his career as a starting pitcher. The hurler was one of the top pitchers in the SLIAC after going 7-3 in 77.0 innings of work, struck out a career-high and single-season record 83 hitters and own a career-best 2.10 ERA. He didn't allow an earned run in his final 19.2 innings pitched.

The SLIAC awarded him with Co-Pitcher of the Year and First Team honors for his standout season on the mound.
