Baseball swept by Greenville on combined three runs

Greenville, Ill. - Fontbonne University baseball fell to Greenville College 3-2 and 7-5 this evening on the campus of the Panthers. The losses put the Griffins 7-14 overall and 2-3 in conference. Fontbonne has now lost three SLIAC games in a row.

With Fontbonne leading 2-1 after the first inning, each team remained scoreless until Greenville closed out the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off single to left field. Cole Lankford suffered the loss after starting the seventh on the mound for the Griffins. Ben Greenway hit a two-run home run for the Griffins while Greenville's lone run in the first was also off a home run.

In game two, Greenville led 7-1 before Fontbonne scored two runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth as they tried to make a comeback.

Tyler Scott suffered the loss. Ethan Boyer, Patrick Shuff and Jackson Penrod each doubled in the game. Boyer added a stolen base for the Griffins as well. Fontbonne drew six walks while the Scott and Brett Lange walked zero Panthers.

Greenville hit a two-run home run in the second as the Panthers tallied 14 hits to secure the sweep.

Fontbonne is set to host MacMurray College Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., followed by a doubleheader against Spalding University on Sunday, April 9th, also starting at 1 p.m.
