St. Louis- Fontbonne University cleaned up in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) by claiming Newcomer of the Year for both men’s and women’s basketball.

Freshman forward Samantha Voegtle was named the 2012-2013 SLIAC women's basketball Newcomer of the Year and was also tabbed as an All-Conference 2nd team selection.

Voegtle (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) averaged 13.2 points per game, placing her 9th in the SLIAC overall and 1st among newcomers. She averaged 7.6 rebounds per game (2nd among newcomers and 8th overall) and blocked 20 shots, earning her 2nd overall for newcomers and 5th overall among SLIAC players.

Forward Jared Greenlee was named the men’s basketball 2012-2013 SLIAC Newcomer of the Year.

Greenlee, a 6'5 Freshman forward (Strattford, MO/Marshfield) led SLIAC newcomers, finishing his first collegiate basketball season averaging 6.8 rebounds per game, and finishing 2nd among SLIAC newcomers scoring an 11.5 PPG average. On the year, Greenlee averaged 52.2 FG%, and accumulated 28 offensive rebounds, 80 defensive rebounds, 22 steals, and 9 blocks.

These two athletes demonstrate an excellent show of Fontbonne’s young talent.
